picking blueberries

Early yesterday morning, I went by myself to Meg's U-pick blueberry patch. I arrived before anyone else, grabbed a little bucket and headed into the berries. They were everywhere, all sizes of dark, dark blue berries. I tasted various plants and began my work. The light glistened, the berries were delicious, the heat was not yet oppressive, the birds chittered, and I was overwhelmingly, deliriously happy. So satisfied that I didn't want to leave and I actually picked slowly to make it last as long as possible. At one point, I stopped my work completely and just stood in the middle of the patch looking up and all around - it was just too perfect not to pay attention. Just a simple task, but I felt so priveleged to have access and to be able to take part.
