spring - sort of

Pollen is everywhere. I'm sneezing non-stop. Leaves are fresh and green. Sunshine is sun-shiney. Sky is blue. So where are the azalea blooms?

James keeps wandering around the yard - befuddled. Last year, our azaleas bloomed magnificently all through March and April, each taking its turn. He missed it because he was in Miami. The year before that we were in New Orleans.

This year, our dogwoods sort of bloomed and one azalea in the front yard, plus maybe two in the backyard. Each of the plants that bloomed were exactly the same color - magenta. We have, I don't know, 30-40 azaleas. Generally, we have countless shades of red and pink as well as a few white ones.

So what gives?
